For this refrigerator, discard the first 1.5-3 gallons (about 3 minutes of dispensing) after installing or replacing the filter (FPPWFU01) to flush out air, carbon fines, and manufacturing residues—this clears black particles or odd tastes. Ice from the new maker is good to use after 24-48 hours of production (first batches may taste off due to residues), then discard the initial 2-3 batches (about 20-30 cubes) before regular use.
