Air conditioners act like dehumidifiers and remove the humidity but also blow air through the chilled A coil in your furnace which goes into the home through your registers. The dehumidifier only remove humidity, however, removed humidity makes the living space more comfortable. You will still need to supplement this with air conditioning. For example 74 degree air with 43% humidity feels as comfortable as 71 degree air with 57% humidity. Removing humidity is a must for comfort. Your air conditioner fights the humidity that is rising from your basement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your room is hot due to humidity, dehumidifier will work as it collects the water into the bucket. You just need to keep on dumping the water though - or if you can hook up a hose and direct the water to drain into some other place directly, you don't have to worry about it. If you suffer from dry heat in your room, then, this probably won't work, and you will need an AC.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A dehumidifier will heat a room!! It works by condensing moisture on cooled metal coiled pipes. But cooling these requires removing heat and putting it out into the room. Even an AC will produce more heat than it will cold. The secret of an AC is to blow into the room the cool part and externalize the hot part. like on the outside aspect of a window.

Please note this dehumidifier will not act as an air conditioner. We hope this information is of assistance. Feel free to reconnect with directly or via the Q&A forum on this website. –Kind Regards-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well this is a tricky question because yes you will feel a lot better if you currently have a lot of moisture in the air. This machine definitely helped me feel like i wasn't swimming in my room anymore lol. It blows out cool air at first, but the longer you have it on, the warmer the air will get. At least for me. So i usually only leave it on during the day when I'm not there and then when i get home i have my wall unit ac on to feel cool.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is NOT an A/C unit. It's not designed to cool. In fact, it heats the air slightly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will remove the humidity your room but the exhaust air blows warm dry air back into the room.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, this runs warm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is my experience that a dehumidifier actually puts OUT heat as it runs. The motor isn't outside a window like an A/C unit, so the heat generated is released into the room in which the dehumidifier is. I definitely noticed an increase in temperature in my lower level with my dehumidifier running constantly. Without the dehumidifier, it is quite cool - but very damp! Trade-off, i guess.
