Under normal operating conditions keep the plugs in both the top drain (rubber plug in the black hose thread) and bottom drain (Knob with black rubber stopper at the bottom of the unit). There is and internal water tank that holds the water and it evaporates with use and goes out of the exhaust tube. Under extremely humid conditions the tank may reach a limit where the unit shuts off and shows an error code, otherwise the unit should not have to be drained or let to drip in a/c mode.
