Hi Jess10! Thank you for your inquiry. To keep your air conditioner working efficiently, you should clean the filters every week of operation. This unit has two filters, they are filter A and B. Grasp the upper panel tab and take off the filter A which behind the grill of the back panel. Remove the lower filter B by loosening the screw. Take down the air inlet grille, then remove the air filter. Wash the filter using liquid dish-washing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing. You are able to locate this particular information in the Use and Care Guide on page 17. We hope this helps! -Thanks!-

In my case we have it on non stop to keep the room cool, about every two weeks we clean the filter. Easy to remove, clean and reinstall. It’s a reusable filter so you don’t need to buy a new one. Get the extended warranty though. This unit doesn’t work well, if you’re lucky and get the one that works great but if you end up with one that just blows room temperature air like many people have commented in the reviews you will need the warranty to exchange it.
