• Wouldn't go above 36 inches. The panels would never reach the sides without major modification. I have this unit in 36 inch window no problems.

• According to the box that is beyond its design capability. And from having installed it I would tell you you would need to modify what they give you.

• In that space you can put 2 units side by side. Do you have a hung window or slider? The unit does not come with that extra to fill in. Max to 32 inches.
