Q: QuestionWhat is the amp rating
Asked by John.
- A:Answer I'm sure the official Amp rating is higher because a circuit needs to provide more Amps than an appliance draws to follow electrical codes. I purchased a 12,000 BTU unit and measured the draw using a Kill-A-Watt meter. When the compressor kicks on, the Amps peak at just under 12 Amps. When the unit is running with the fan on high and the compressor on, it stays between 6.5-7.5 Amps.

Q: QuestionWater builds up and stands in the back of the unit through normal use. There is no drain. WON'T THE UNIT EVENTUALLY RUST OUT ? This seems really stupid. PLEASE HELP !
Asked by Runner.
- A:Answer you need to have a slight angle on the a/c unit. The water gets full at first since it's removing the humidity out of the house (moisture). It will slowly drain out of the pan after a week or so, you will still see a little water at all times. Not a problem unless you don't have enough lean on the unit. Then water will drain into the house but unlikely. Old A/C window units had drain holes that clogged up anyway, have two new units with no drain holes. Once the moisture (humidity) is out of the house the water in the pan will evaporate.

Q: QuestionIf I order online will I still get all the rebates.
Asked by Susieq.
- A:Answer Here in NY you would. You will have to go to the utility provider website and download the forms, then copy the receipts from your on line order and send them in like you would had you bought it in the store. The only other stipulation I know of is that there are certain sellers that are "certified" for the rebate. That info can also be found on the utility providers' website. As long as the part number matches, the seller is "certified" and the other conditions set out in the rebate are met, it shouldn't matter whether or not you bought it online.

Q: QuestionWill this unit cover 3 bed living dining day room kitchen 1 bathroom
Asked by Shoppingfrac.
- A:Answer That sounds like far more than this unit can cover. However, you should measure the length and width of each of those rooms, multiply them length times width and add up the results to see how many BTUs you need. This 12,000 BTU unit can cover about 550 square feet.

Q: QuestionCan i install this Air Conditioners Through-the-Wall ?
Asked by Lana.
- A:Answer Yes, though it says it's a window unit it still works; you won't have to use the side panel (window units) at all. I replaced a broken unit that was 20 years old. This Frigidaire your looking at is a little smaller about 2" inches shorter on width and 1" shorter on height then the broken unit, but I was able to put it in with a little piece of board for the height. It runs great. Though it looks small it actually cools the air in no time with some of our temps in Texas getting at 92 degrees this month (May.)

Q: QuestionCan a Window Air Conditioner be installed in a Fire Place and would it work as well?
Asked by Dayle.
- A:Answer Hello, I would not recommend that type of installation as it would limit the exhaust air from being able to cool down the condenser coil. It needs outside air to do that. The same fan motor has a common shaft and draws air from inside the house through another coil called the evaporator where the Freon turns from a liquid to a gas. Just think of it as moving the heat btu's from inside the house to the outside. Also fyi: This is the quietest window unit I have ever installed.

Q: QuestionI am looking for a 12,000 BTU a/c that does not have a top vent on the outside. Reason being, I need to cover the outside top because of the dripping noise from a/c's above and rain.
Asked by Jane.
- A:Answer I have not seen window type aircon without top vent. The vent on top is part of the design for a purpose and is necessary for mechanical design. I believe also that the window type aircon is also design as exposed to exterior but we have always the option to cover the top. I covered also the top vent with our extra carpet tile ( this rainy season). It is quiet now for me on rainy season.
