• We have ours through the wall, we filled the empty spaces of the wall box with the Styrofoam that was inside the a/c box to prevent air escaping.

• Absolutely, you can install it through the wall. Make sure that you measure accurately the unit, leave about 1/4 inch extra, mark the wall, then punch a hole in it. Then put the unit in.
