There is a bit of a lip, and a kind of lid that flaps open when you go to pour. I was able to carry my bucket upstairs to pour outside without spilling. I have trouble carrying a cup of water without spilling, so, pretty effective spill-proof container.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The bucket does fill almost to the top, but we did not have any trouble getting the bucket to the outside to empty without spilling it. When you pour the water out of the bucket, water does run down the side of the bucket, so we used a paper towel to wipe off the outside of the bucket before placing it back into the unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Turn off the machine. Give it a moment to finish the cycle. Ease the bucket out - it pulls out smoothly. The bucket will be full but not to the rim.. Empty it out and then put back in the same way. Do keep a rag handy just in case you pull it out before it stops. I've had a few small puddles when I haven't turned off the machine and pulled out the bucket. Turn it back on and and you're good to go. I believe it keeps the humidity level where you set it last.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The reservoir has a cover over it, with a handle. The cover will keep water from splashing out when moving it to empty it. It does not fill up to the very top.

I did not have any problem. However, I use this in my basement so I got the drain hose. It fills approximately every 5 hours. It is amazing!
