There is a bit of a lip, and a kind of lid that flaps open when you go to pour. I was able to carry my bucket upstairs to pour outside without spilling. I have trouble carrying a cup of water without spilling, so, pretty effective spill-proof container.

The bucket does fill almost to the top, but we did not have any trouble getting the bucket to the outside to empty without spilling it. When you pour the water out of the bucket, water does run down the side of the bucket, so we used a paper towel to wipe off the outside of the bucket before placing it back into the unit.

Turn off the machine. Give it a moment to finish the cycle. Ease the bucket out - it pulls out smoothly. The bucket will be full but not to the rim.. Empty it out and then put back in the same way.

Do keep a rag handy just in case you pull it out before it stops. I've had a few small puddles when I haven't turned off the machine and pulled out the bucket.

Turn it back on and and you're good to go. I believe it keeps the humidity level where you set it last.

It does not fill all the way up to the tippe top, and there is a handle on the top of the drawer, so it is very helpful.

The reservoir has a cover over it, with a handle. The cover will keep water from splashing out when moving it to empty it. It does not fill up to the very top.

The bucket fills and the unit shuts off. However, it does not fill so full that you can't remove it and dump it without spilling. I did not have any problem. However, I use this in my basement so I got the drain hose. It fills approximately every 5 hours. It is amazing!

It fills to about 1-2 inches from the top. No problem pulling the bucket section out and walking to to the next room/bathroom to dump the water!

2 ways to empty. 1. Remove bucket, has plastic clear cover so does not spill or splash. mine holds 6 a half gal. Lets u know when full. Stops running and lite flashes. 2. Or has an attachment to fasten a short hose. Have not bought a small hose yet but plan too. Drain in sinks or tub. I am 65 yrs old, able to lift bucket for now, some may not be able to easily but thats why there is attachment. I am a woman, so may not have muscle strength of most men, but no problem for me to lift For now. U cant go wrong with this machine!
