Mine ran for 1 month and was clean. Gentle soap and wash will be just fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I have owned both. The prior unit exhausted air from the top, while this unit exits from the side. The prior unit was not included in the recall, although it suffered from the overheating recall that caused fires, so I did not want to get another fire hazard. That prior unit's thermostat failed and the readout signaled "30", which was not one of the error codes. The unit was to hot to touch and the on/off switch would not turn it off, so I had to unplug it. Because of the thermostat being stuck, it triggered the heating coils to come on even though the ambient temp was 77° ! Others have reported their units actually caused fire damage. I was lucky to notice the smell of an electrical fire and went to investigate. I would not want another of that prior model that you are inquiring about. The new unit is quieter, but the water bucket is smaller and instead of emptying it once / day, I have to empty it twice a day. Be advised that most dehumidfiers are made by the same Chinese company, although they may look at little different and are sold by various brand names.
