Hello, Neil! Thank you for stopping by! The dehumidifier fan cycles on and off to test the moisture in the room, to maintain the set RH%. The setting may need to be changed to a higher RH%, and also depends on the tool that you are using to measure the humidity level in the room. -Katrina
