I believe that once the humidity target value is set & engaged, the display will "default" to showing the relative humidity that the unit is actually detecting in the room, while it works. So sometimes, when the air is drier than the target value you set, the display will show that lower humidity reading. The unit should cycle "OFF" when the ambient humidity reading is lower than the target value setpoint (and cycle "ON" again when the ambient humidity once again rises above the target value setpoint).
