“My sleeve didn't have a back grate on it to protect the back cooling fins, is this normal??? The back cooling fins are exposed the sleeve is wide open in the back.”

So was mine. This concerns me also. The same model, just 1 or 2 year years ago, had the protection grate, and I was surprised the factory deleted it. (anything to save a buck and 1 less step in manufacture). I am going to purchase some thick poultry wire or grate, cut it and heavy-duty double stick tape it on.
