It should fit in a 24" window if you don't install the slide frames. Those are the slides on each side that take up the extra space in the window so bugs and external air don't get in. You will have to close the gap with duct tape or some type of foam. Not sure if that will void the warranty though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Our window opening width is less than 24", yet that width is at the inner rail for our double-hung window. Outside (exterior) of that inner rail, the width expands, of course, because the window moves up and down there in that groove. On installing this unit, I was able to extend both side curtains slightly. Hope this helps.
