Good Morning Anonymous, For this particular unit it is require a minimum distance of 30 inches from cooking surface to bottom edge of top cabinet. The recommended clearance for the unit to be installed above the range is a minimum height of approximately 14 5/8 inches. Specifications on clearances can be found in the Owner’s Manual. If you are concerned about flammability I do not see a risk of that Ours is 17 in. above range and handle does get quite hot , so try to plan not to use the stove and the micro at the same time.
