I believe you can get a suction cup for this item. I do not like suction as they seem to lose their suction at the most inopportune time. Rocking should not set off the crash protection feature. I am assuming you are referring to the closure on traffic directly in front of you.

The cam is about the size of a GoPro, so any suction mount with an adjustable clamp could be used. The motion of a train shouldn't trip the gravity event but the sensitivity can be adjusted easily by a menu option on the dash cam itself. Just remember, when the camera is recording, it continuously saves 1 minute vid clips onto its microSD card. The primary function of the Garmin 45 is as a vehicle dash cam for capturing traffic incidents. For simply recording a trip, I would recommend using a GoPro.
