• Good question! Yes, the Low-profile Magnetic Mount is removable but the Magnetic disk and adhesive are permanently attached to the windshield. Check out this Garmin Support Center article that shows how the Dash Cam is mounted: http://bit.ly/2p5xEci Thanks, James

• Yes, the metal disk is removeable. Saw through the sticky goo with a piece of dental floss. Roll off what's left with your finger, then clean with lighter fluid on a paper towel. You can get the clear 3M sticky goo tape at Home Depot and re-use the disc.

• The camera is attached magnetically to the windshield mount, and therefore is removable. The windshield mount however is adhesively attached to the windshield. The manual says that it is "extremely difficult" to remove it. If by "earlier versions" you're referring to suction mounts, then this is not like that.
