• Yes it will work to detect a break in but only records sound and objects in camera as they come into lenses area of view.

• Our dash cams do offer event detection and I would imagine a break in would be recorded as well. For what you are wanting with both interior and exterior recording I recommend looking into the Dash Cam Tandem.
