“How long does it take to charge the battery? I have tried charging it in my car (port) and on my computer as well, doesnt appear to charge. Unit does cut on and appears to be fine otherwise.”

Normally it will take several hours to fully charge the battery. The GPS is designed to be plugged in at all times. Even if the device is fully charged, it may not last on battery power alone for very long and the battery icon could become low fairly quickly.
