• Unit does show speed limit and notifies you if you are going over the limit even if you are just using the general map. And I have noticed just on a very few occasions that it will show a real photo of off ramp views. It does have a feature that when selected will show 3 D block buildings.

• Yes, it will display posted speed limit for most roads, even when not in an active route.
