• Yes. The nüvi 2589 will speak street names and give you turn by turn direction, it also includes Garmin Real Directions. ~QKO

• Yes, it does give voice street-by-street directions with exit numbers. So, even if you can't visually look at the map, you can still follow the directions and still concentrate on looking at the street signs on the road.

• It gives you something like "Turn right on Main Street in a quarter mile", if that's what you mean.
