Does it give a message before turning off? have u check the 'brightness' setting I thought mine was turning off as well at first and found out the brightness was only at 10%. If its a "no" to either issue, no... this is definitely NOT normal. Best of luck.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same problem downloaded instruction when turning it on make sure & hold On button down till the screen appears. If you don't hold it down long enough it will put the GPS in sleep mode. If you keep hitting the button without the screen appearing like I did it puts it longer in sleep mode apparently it is saving power for the GPS. I have a power source so that feature is useless & annoying. Don't unplug it during each days use may help or look at instructions on Sleep Mode. Hope this helps.
