“Does it display real-time distance to destination? On the main screen, is it possible to display total miles to destination while driving? It appears to only show distance till next turn or driving action, and I need to know remaining trip distance for accurate time management.”

The nuvi 2597LMT will have a customizable field on the "View Map" screen, where you can set it to the following options: -Arrival Time (such as 3:46pm) -Arrive In (time until reaching your distance) -Destination Distance -Direction -Current Time -Elevation -Time to Via Point -Via Point Arrival Time -Via Point Distance

I think time of arrival is in destination time zone, or might change to that as you enter last time zone. I rotate between direction and minutes left. My wife prefers the route up view, so I like having direction displayed for occasional spontaneous detours, like the rare occasion when construction doesn't make updated map.
