• I use basecamp from Garmin. Never used Mapsource.

• While MapSource is discontinued, BaseCamp can provide the custom route feature you are looking for. Trip routing provides a more convenient way to create routes on-the-go. Garmin BaseCamp can be found at http://www.garmin.com/en-US/shop/downloads/basecamp for free download. -LB
