• It has a general user setting for the type of route you want it to navigate; fastest driving time, no toll roads, and a bunch of other choices. And yes, it will quickly "recalculate" when you miss a turn (or many turns) and continues to get you to your destination until you "stop" navigating. The Nuvi 55 recalculates very quickly.

• This model always defaults to the fastest route. You can change the chosen route. This model does not automatically reroute.
