- Answer No, the Nüvi 57lm does not include Canada and Mexico mapping. The nüvi 57LM arrives pre-loaded with detailed maps of the lower 49 U.S. states. >JF

QuestionHow quickly does it re-route if you go off-course? I had 2 Magellans; the first one re-routed within seconds; the second one refused to re-route unless you turned it off, deleted the address, and re-input it. Obviously this wasn't acceptable.

- Answer Garmin's automotive navigators generally recalculate a route within seconds after deviating from the planned route. The time it takes to recalculate can vary based on the length of the route you have entered, but it always occurs quickly and allows for your to seamlessly pick up your new route. -MH

QuestionYou miss a turn & nuvi 57 LM changes map, indicates different direction DOES VOICE SAY "RECALCULATING" IMPORTANT TO US BECAUSE OLD NUVI DID THIS/WE HAVE COME TO RELY ON IT. Else, we may not know we made mistake.

- Answer No, the nuvi 57LM does not audibly speak the word "recalculating" if you deviate from the planned route, however, if route deviation does occur, the device will automatically find a new route and continue to provide you with appropriate spoken instructions from your current position. -MH

- Answer No, the Nüvi 57lm doesn’t include any of the truck specific routing or restrictions like low clearance bridges like the Garmin dēzl™ series does.

- Answer The nuvi 57LM is meant for standard car navigation. I recommend looking into Garmin's dezl series of devices if you are interested in a device made specifically for commercial trucking. -MH

- Answer The nuvi 57LM comes preloaded with mapping of the lower 49 United States only. If Canada mapping is needed, I recommend looking into the nuvi 58LM, which comes preloaded with the United States and Canada. -MH

- Answer The nuvi 57LM does have an internal battery, which charges whenever the device is connected to power. The maximum battery life is 2 hours. Brighter backlight, higher volume, and active navigation can all contribute to a faster-draining battery. The device is meant to be connected to vehicle power whenever possible during use. -MH

- Answer This device doesn't verbalize "recalculating" when a turn is missed; however, it will display "Recalculating" if a turn is missed or if you choose to stray from the intended route. >JF
