Yes you can see texts on the watch but you cannot reply to them. The watch requires a bluetooth connection to the app on the phone. You need to sync fairly regularly otherwise the watch GPS does not perform reliably.

Yes, you can receive them and read them, but not respond through the watch. Also notifies you of incoming calls, emails, etc.
