Our current models are now 15" in width so you may need to do some modifications to your cabinetry. • A:Answer Yes. There is a knob behind the door a child can't easily reach that disables it. It would be annoying if a kid played with it, but not dangerous.

• A:Answer Hi grannyof13 - Thank you for your interest in a GE 15" trash compactor. The trash compactor itself measures (35"H x 14 7/8"W x 24"D). The recommended cutout requirement for your cabinet opening is (34"-35"H x 15"W x 24"D). The custom drawer panel and custom handle of your choice should be secured to the compactor before installation begins. A template with instructions and installation hardware is provided with this model. The approximate panel dimensions are: (29 5/16"H x 14 7/8"W). It calls for a 3/4" panel which can not exceed 12 lbs. For additional information including the installation documentation please visit the manufacturer's website. We hope this helps. Vikki@GEA
