Q: QuestionI have a JVM1430 GE over the range with vent exhaust attached. It's 1.4 capacity and 950 watts. Bought in 2003. Is this 6175SKSS comparable?

Q: QuestionIf I vent the over the range thru the drywall, (1) will the moisture/oil from cooking damage drywall, e.g. mold form or grease build up cause problems. And (2) will the smells from cooking be eliminated since vented into drywall? Thanks

• A:Answer Hi there - Thanks for this question! Our microwaves continue to be manufactured with as quiet an operation as possible. You will hear a humming sounds during operation or change in the blower sound at power levels other than high. It also features a two-speed, 300-CFM venting system to removes smoke, steam and odor from the kitchen. The sound can be compared to a standard range vent hood. • A:Answer Hi there, thanks for your question! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy! - NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. We believe that any of the following models would make for a lovely replacement: JVM3160DFBB, JVM6172DKBB, JVM6175DKBB, JNM3184DPBB, PVM9179DKBB. Hope this helps! Stay safe. -Michael@GEA

Q: QuestionIs the vent fan supposed to come on and stay on all the time when you are warming somthing up? There is nothing cooking on the stove below.

• A:Answer Hi 2858! We appreciate your question. We found that this is supposed to happen. Over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components, and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot, and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. We hope this helps! Emily@GEA
