“I have a GE JVM1870SF02 model with recirculating venting. I would to know what GE Model can replace. Also, there is a vent flap on the top face of the microwave that opens when the fan is operating. Does the replacement model have this?”

Hi Kurtis - It's great to hear from you! We certainly appreciate your loyalty and glad to have you in the family! Comparable models are GE Profile™ 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven PVM9215SKSS and GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195SKSS (Model JNM7196SKSS is the same as JVM7195SKS except factory-assembled for recirculating). All models can be converted to recirculating. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. Also, current models no longer have an active vent (vent flap that opens when operating). The vent is now located on top of the door. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Enjoy! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I cannot comment with certainty about the JVM1870SF02. What I can tell you is this. I previously had a JVM1950OSR155. I believe that one of the differences is that mine was 1.95 cu. ft. and I believe the 1870 may be a bit smaller. My previous model had the vent flap on the top of the unit towards the back and when mounted over our stove, it fit into an access hole cut into the bottom of the cabinets over the stove. The unit also had mounting brackets on the wall into which the unit was hooked and then tilted into place and held there by two screws which came into the top through the bottom of the cabinets. I replaced the old one with what was apparently the latest replacement model, the JVM7195SKSS. Dimensionally it was almost exactly the same, but about 1/4 " taller. I was very pleasantly surprised when the new unit fit EXACTLY into the old brackets and the vent was in the identical location as the old unit, and it also fit right in. I can't say for sure exactly which model can replace yours, but if you get a unit that has the same (or close) exterior dimensions there is a reasonable chance it might work, since it appears that in at least one case, the GE engineers considered the old unit's installation configuration when designing a new one.
