“Unfortunately I may need to use an extension cord for this freezer as the cord length is prohibitive. Some manufacturers offer extension cords that are specially designed for their appliances. Does GE sell one that matches up to this freezer model?”

Hi Clugy - Thanks for choosing GE! We strongly recommend that an extension cord not be used with a freezer due to the potential safety hazards under certain conditions. However, if an extension cord is used, it is absolutely necessary that it be a UL® listed 3-wire grounding appliance extension cord, and that the current carry rating of the cord be a minimum of 15 amp and 120 volts. Extension cords are sold through local retailers. Where a standard 2-prong wall outlet is encountered, it is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do not cut the grounding prong and do not use an adapter. Keep in touch! Sue
