  • QuestionHow would you rate the noise level?

    Asked by Drew.

    • Answer Hi Drew - Thanks for reaching out! We appreciate your interest in this top-freezer refrigerator and are happy to offer you some guidance on noise. We do not perform a sound rating for our refrigerator models. While all our appliances are designed with the quietest operation in mind, the added technology and high-efficiency compressor found in newer refrigerators will cause some sound when operating. You can learn more about normal operating sounds that you may hear on page 14 of the Use and Care Manual. We hope that this helps! -Eliza@GEA

  • QuestionCan I lay this on its side during transport?

    Asked by Steph.

    • Answer Hi Steph - When loading the refrigerator in a moving van, truck, etc., it is best to keep it standing upright to minimize possible damage to the sealed system or prevent damage to loose items. If laying the refrigerator down cannot be avoided, lay it on the side opposite the hinges so the door will remain closed (Top Freezer models). If it has been necessary to transport the refrigerator on its side, it should stand upright for an equal amount of time as it was on its side before plugging it in. If it was on its side for more than a day, leave standing for 24 hours before running. • QuestionWhat is the difference between this model at the GE GPE12FGKBWW model?

    Asked by NYCS.

    • Answer Hi NYCS- Thanks for choosing GE! There is no difference between these models. GPE12FGKBWW is the complete model number. When the model is manufactured, this extra letter (B) is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This letter is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. We're glad to have you in the family. Enjoy! SUE@GEA

  • QuestionCan I use the fridge in the garage? Will the freezer still work properly if the outside temp is as low as 35F for extended periods of time?

    Asked by DirkM.

    • Answer Hi DirkM- It is not recommended that refrigerators be used in unheated locations, such as garages, porches, or unheated rooms during periods when the temperature is likely to fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases. At 32 degrees, there is no cooling capability at all. Refrigeration systems rely on the boiling of refrigerant under pressure and heat. If the outside temperature is not sufficient, the refrigerant will not boil to a vapor and no cooling will take place. Low temperatures can also fool the thermostat into thinking proper temperatures have been reached. • QuestionIs the unit garage compatible or does having it in the garage void the warranty?

    Asked by Chris.
