Good day, We'll be happy to explain! The temperature monitor or temperature alarm is designed to warn the owner when the internal freezer temperature becomes potentially unsafe for the proper storage of frozen foods. The alarm operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not perform. The temperature alarm will sound if the freezer temperature rises above 20 degrees F. The High Temp will continue to be displayed on the control panel until set temperature has been restored. The alarm will sound again if the temperature is not restored and remains high in six hours. Hope this helps. Wishing you well! Mike@GEA
