A:AnswerIt’s normal for one door to briefly pop open when the other is closed on a two-door refrigerator, due to shared air channels between the fridge and freezer. Closing a door quickly can force air into the other compartment, causing this to happen. To help prevent it, make sure the fridge is properly leveled (with the front slightly higher), the door gaskets are clean and lubricated, nothing inside is blocking the doors, and placing heavier items in the freezer door can also help keep it closed. -Kacie@GEAppliances
A:AnswerAlways install all appliances such that they are compliant with the building code. For this refrigerator, a 115 Volt AC, 60 Hz, 15- or 20- amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required. There is no harm in using a GFCI or GFI outlet for your refrigerator. However, the compressor is sensitive to temperature and current overloads, and will shut itself down with a surge. It will also restart itself. A GFCI or GFI outlet will shut off and will override this system. If there is a power surge and the outlet shuts off, your refrigerator would not restart. This could cause food spoilage. To learn more, check out the “Connecting Electricity” section on page 4 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website.
