It says "sanitize" is the hottest setting, though I don't know how hot that is. I've had this piece of garbage over a year and just wrote a 1-star review on it. If you get it, be sure you you get an extended warranty; you'll need it. I'll NEVER buy another GE product.

When Sanitize is selected, the washer increases the water temperature to sanitize and kill more than 99% of many common bacteria found in home laundry. It will achieve about 140 degrees on Sanitize. Depending on load, it could vary up and down a little. The sanitize wash temperature is only available on the Whites/Heavy Duty wash cycle. For best results, select the heavy soil setting when using the Sanitize wash temperature setting. Thanks for checking with us!
