“Best Buys Customer Service keeps insisting an additional part (WE16X29317 - Dryer Side Vent Kit) is needed to have the dryer side vent. The installation guide seems to indicate that kit is NOT needed (page 12 onward). Can you confirm which is it?”

A dryer side vent kit is not needed for this unit. Please refer to Page 15 of the Installation Instructions for information on side venting. We're glad you checked. -Vikki@GEAppliances
