“how much space is required from the wall to the back of the unit? I have a closet with a depth of 28" and want to see if this will work. I believe that it can be vented to the side which should save some space.”

Hi BS01- This unit has 3-Way Exhaust: Rear; Left; Right. The dryer is deeper than the washer, so the vent, electrical, and plumbing connections do not need additional clearance. The vent elbow can be turned to vent downward; however, for side venting, there is a side knockout that must be removed for side venting.
