Hi aussie58- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE® ENERGY STAR® 21.2 CU. FT. TOP-FREEZER REFRIGERATOR GIE21GTHBB! We do not recommend removing the factory installed icemaker. We suggest to view model GTE21GTHBB.
