Hi - Thank you for having purchased a new GE freezer. We recommend setting the temperature at 0 which is the default setting. You can check your foods after 24 hours to ensure items like ice cream are cold enough to suit your personal preference. You can then adjust the temperature up or down if needed. The "High Temperature" light should go off once the freezer has reached safe freezing temperatures. If the light has remained on even after the internal temperatures are cold enough, we would recommend service. All our best! Vikki@GEA
