Hi electric- The refrigerator requires a 120 volt individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Should be on a dedicated circuit. This is recommended for best performance and to prevent overloading house wiring circuits. The exact amps or wattage may be needed for use on generators and other similar applications. The rating plate on the unit has this information (To determine wattage, use: volts x amps = wattage. Note: Start-up amps and wattage are usually 3 times more than running amps or watts.) If running on a generator visit: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17354 - Thanks for checking with us. Enjoy! SUEatGEA
