No. You have to pull it out. The annoying part is that the ice cubes fall behind the freezer drawer and into the bottom of the freezer. You have no way of getting them out.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.More accurately the ice tray slides forward when closed. It sits on top and you can slide it back to access the bottom portion of the freezer. When you close the freezer drawer, if the top tray is slid back, the tray will be slid flush so the drawer closes and will be there when next opened.
