• Hello, This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help. This dishwasher model GDT580SSFSS has two removable filters that should be periodically inspected and cleaned manually. These filters are not self-cleaning. Thank you for checking

• No, but you only have to rinse it out every six months and is easily removed, this dishwasher also has a built in garbage disposal, I highly recommend it . You can't hear it at all.

• It has two filters, but you have to check and clean them yourself. Follow the instructions that come with the machine; they are straight forward.

• According to the Owners Manual, you're supposed to manually check/clean the two filters once ever month or so, depending on how often you use the machine.
