I just purchased the GE Gloss Black French Door Refrigerator/freezer. There is a noise, occasionally, when it first was plugged in and maybe when the cooling starts, not sure. Is this normal? The ice maker is not hooked up and turned off. null

I am so sorry everyone! Turns out the ice maker was on. After turning off the maker, the refrigerator is silent. Keeps temps perfect (refrigerator 37 degrees and freezer at zero, factory settings). I could not be happier with this choice.

Hi JPG6- Thanks for choosing GE! When the surrounding noise level is low, you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator.
