- Answer You may hear cracking or popping sounds when the refrigerator is first plugged in. This happens as the refrigerator cools to the correct temperature. Expansion and contraction of cooling coils during and after defrost can also cause a cracking or popping sound. This is normal. For more descriptions of normal sounds you can expect with your refrigerator, check out the Normal Operating Conditions section on page 44 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed on our GE Appliances website. - Answer This refrigerator has upfront electronic temperature controls. To change the temperature, press and release the Fridge pad. The display will show the set temperature. To change the temperature, press the Fridge pad until the desired temperature is displayed. Lauren@GEAppliances

- Answer When sliding the freezer compartment open, the top full-width basket will slide out somewhat with the bottom, full-width basket. To access the bottom basket fully, simply push the basket towards the back of the freezer. QuestionIf you don't have a water supply, will the icemaker still try to run? If so, how do I turn it off?

- Answer Yes, the icemaker will attempt to bring water in to make ice. There is an On/Off switch on the icemaker that should be turned off if there is no water supply connected. -Vikki@GEAppliances

- Answer Thank you for reaching out with your question. The top control panel on this unit will have a light that will blink while the door is open until the water filter is replaced. The filter cartridge should be replaced every six months, or earlier if the flow of water to the dispenser or icemaker decreases.

- Answer This unit has 4 split adjustable shelves and 1 quick space shelf. The shelves are adjustable and easy to slide out for removal. However, they are not sliding shelves. Also, all the bins on the door are adjustable as well.

- Answer We appreciate you reaching out to us with your question. Once the water line is connected to your unit you can start using the water and ice. This icemaker makes approximately 3.9 lbs. per day. This is also the amount of ice the bin holds. We recommend to dispense water for at least 2 minutes to remove any air from the system.
