Hi John - Thanks for viewing GE! There are not separate controls. The fresh food control regulates how long the compressor runs, and in effect, how cold both compartments can become. It is equipped with a 5' power cord. Also, per the Installation Guide: Install it on a floor strong enough to support it fully loaded. No there are not separate fridge and freezer temp controls. Freezer temp keeps items frozen and have not had problems with fridge items freezing. Power cord is approximately 4-5 foot. And item is small enough and light enough to sit on a stand or small table..
