I have a very tight place & tried to use the periscope but wouldn’t fit properly to my situation- had to use the flexible tubing

The periscope dryer vent is not our preferred way of venting but it’s tolerated as long as the equivalent dynamic diameter is 4”. Here are the risks of using the periscope: The bottom portion could function as a “dead end” in the airflow, and accumulates lint; The vertical portion is tapered so it would be a restriction compared to 4” duct; There is no “swept radius” from the horizontal to the vertical… high likelihood of stagnated airflow, which would be a restriction and a lint accumulation point; The assembly appears to depend heavily on tape… high likelihood of leakage, adjacent to rear panel intake louvers. We recommend these options (in this order), even though they are not perfect from a “swept radius” point of view: Offset elbow, Dryer box, Flat periscope vent.
