“I read in the instructions manual that there are certain requirements that allow a washer/dryer to go in a closet. It says if the dryer is suitable for a closet it will "be stated on a label on the dryer back." Can this unit go in a closet?”

Hi Kara - Model GUD27ESSMWW can be installed in a closet and must be vented outside.
