  • Questionhow loud when washing and drying?

    Asked by helpless.

    • Answer The wash cyle is very loud. It is a repeatious grinding sound that goes on and on. The spin cyle is very loud drowning out every other sound in the laundry room and beyond. You hear a clear and loud knocking sound that could be someone at your front door. Both the washer dial and the dryer dial/controls are unnecessarily complex. I know what I need the machines to do. I do not need or want the dials to offer me their opinions of what the machines are set to do. The wash tub capacity and the dryer capacity are larger that my previous GE space saver unit (circa 2002).

  • QuestionHas anyone else experienced grease marks left on some clothes after using this unit? What causes this? How can I stop this?

    Asked by Barb.

    • Answer Hi Barb - Thanks for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear of the "grease" marks. Black marks on clothing may be the result of the item rubbing between the dryer drum and drum slides. This may occur if the dryer drum slides are worn or a felt seal is mispositioned or defective. A qualified service technician is required for an accurate diagnosis. • QuestionWill the washer and dryer work at the same time? Or do I have to do one wash, dry it, then get the next load in?

    Asked by newcondoowner.

    • Answer You can use both the washer and dryer simultaneously. It will get a little loud, but beyond that, it works perfectly well.

  • QuestionIs the gas version capable of being converted to LP? If so are additional parts/cost required?

    Asked by Mark.

    • Answer Hi Mark - Gas dryers are factory-equipped for natural gas. The gas dryer can be converted for Liquid Propane (LP) gas, which requires an optional conversion kit WE25M74 (sold separately). We recommend a qualified installer or servicer convert the gas dryer to the proper gas supply needed. The conversion must be in accordance with the our instructions and all codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue

  • QuestionCan I leave the lid open while the water is filling the washer? I find that really helpful. I can add laundry and let items soak for a bit before adding more. Thank you! Can I choose the load size or does the washer choose?

    Asked by Shorty.

    • Answer Hi Shorty - Many current top-load washers with a Lid Lock feature will lock while the washer is filling and spinning. On these models, it is critical that the lid stays down while it is filling if you are using Precise Fill (or Auto Fill) rather than selecting a specific load size. Precise Fill senses the load and fills appropriately, so you don't want to add items while it is filling. The washer will not fill while the lid is up when using Precise Fill. On models with a Lid Lock and both Precise Fill and individual load size selections (ex. small, medium, large, super), including GUD27GSSMWW, the washer will fill with the lid up when you select a specific load size. This is because the washer does not use load sensing to fill for a set load size. Thanks for choosing GE. Enjoy! Sue
