Hi Betty- Thanks for viewing GE! JP5030DJBB features SyncBurners- Control two 7” elements simultaneously to evenly heat large cookware or griddles. The space between the burners does not heat up; however, the burners are close enough together that you still get an even cooking area, especially since using Sync will ensure the burners are at the same temperature and will cycle together.
