“In the cabinet preparation image on pg. 10 of the Owners Manual & Instructions, it has a 1" clearance for the width between the vent and the cabinet hood. Is that 1" necessary, or can it be less than 1"? Ours would be about 1/2", okay to use with screw D?”

Hi there, thanks for asking! We recommend that you follow the installation instructions as they're written. There is 1" of clearance needed on either side of the vent hood and in its rear as see on page 10 of the installation instructions. It also requires 3" of clearance in the front.
