  • QuestionWe ran out of water on our property. So we have to have water trucked in. We are looking for the most water efficient washer out there. I'm hearing that the agitator washers are not water efficient. Is this true?

    Asked by Needwater.

    • Answer Hi Needwater- Thanks for viewing our GE Washers! We suggest a model with PreciseFill (Auto Load Sensing). This features automatically senses the load and allows the washer to determine the optimum water required to wash the items in the basket. This model features PreciseFill with the option of 4 water level selections. Average water usage is approximately 29.4 gallons. Also, check out our GE® ENERGY STAR® 4.3 DOE Cu. Ft. Capacity Frontload Washer GFWN1600JWW. The average water usage is 13.76 gallons. Unlike the top loader, the front loader's wash basket is set horizontally, and uses gravity to pull water through clothes. And because the basket never has to fill completely with water, you end up using less water, but your clothes get just as clean. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

  • QuestionWhat kind of laundry detergent is needed for this washing machine? Liquid or powder?

    Asked by Jamjust.

    • Answer Hello Jamjust, We are happy to help. While HE detergent is not required, we recommend it because this type of detergent is highly effective. If HE detergent is not used, use less detergent than needed and choose the Deep Rinse option to provide a deep rinse. Thanks for checking with us! Lisa from GE Appliances.

  • QuestionI have a GE washer with an agitator and a basket that sits on top to catch any lint from clothes. I like GE, do they have any washers with lint catcher in them. I'm on a septic system the lint can mess up the drain field.

    Asked by 55andalive.

    • Answer Hi 55andalive- Thanks for viewing our GE Top-Load Washers. We know longer offer washers with the filter-flo pan (lint pan) on top of the agitator. The drain system on the newer models allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system. Lint discharge from the washer should not cause a problem with septic tanks because most lint is produced from cotton fabrics which are biodegradable and septic tanks are designed to handle these fibers. Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! We are sorry to hear of the difficulty and glad to help. If the lights are not on, be sure the power cord is plugged into the wall firmly and that the outlet is functioning. Also, you may want to reset the electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so and retry. • QuestionI'm trying to find out the cycle times for this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Asked by Cajunraz.

    • Answer Whether I do a small load or medium load and whether I run it on light or normal, the machine is done washing in 30 minutes or less. Much faster than my old top of the line front loading washer. The delicate setting is very fast which is great because any delicate article of clothing shouldn't be in water for a long time. This machine has freed up my days. I love it!

  • QuestionDoes the Washer model # GTW460ASJWW allow you to open the lid while it is in the wash cycle to allow you see the water level and also see the agitation in progress? or does it stop agitating when you open the lid.?

    Asked by JR.

    • Answer Hi JR- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! The washer will not start with lid open if Precise Fill is selected except on Bulky Items cycle. If the lid is closed, the lid will lock only during the load sensing portion of the cycle (when the Precise Fill selection is made) and during spin portions of the cycle. Lid will unlock after load sensing and spin. Also, the washer will not agitate with the lid open. The washer will not agitate until the water stops filling. You can view the operation of the dual-action agitator at this link: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - Also, check out the matching dryers: GE® 7.2 CU. FT. • QuestionIs this an HE machine? It doesn't say that it is, but I was told at Lowe's the biggest GE non-HE is 3.8 cf. I wNted to double check with this one being larger and having so many features! I want to avoid an"HE" at all costs and keep it old school.

    Asked by Dogmom.

    • Answer Hi Dogmom- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Note: The HE label does not mean energy efficient. Only washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR rating are independently certified to save energy. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not. However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. Our GE® 3.8 DOE CU. FT. CAPACITY STAINLESS STEEL BASKET GTW330ASKWW does not have "HE" on the control panel (Matching dryers:GTD33EASKWW, GTD33GASKWW GAS). Thanks for checking with us!
